It brought in a succinct way a historical contextualization in an attempt to value and perhaps facilitate the understanding of the underlying content in the writing of the text. This work sought to present in a more visual way the processes involving Riemann integral and the main theorems and definitions were approached, such as fundamental theorem of calculus, indefinite and defined integrals, integral by parts, substitution rule, inappropriate integrals, among others . Some of the applications of these concepts were presented in other areas, such as in physics in the work carried out by a force, in the economy in the surplus of consumers and producers, and in biology in cardiac capacity. Such applications illustrate the reason for the importance of learning the concept of integral for various sciences. Este trabalho objetivou trazer em uma linguagem clara e simples os conceitos sobre INTEGRAL DE RIEMANN estudado nas matérias iniciais de cálculo do curso de Licenciatura Plena em Matemática. Trouxe de maneira sucinta uma contextualização histórica na tentativa de valorizar e talvez facilitar a compreensão do conteúdo subjacente na escrita do texto. Buscou-se neste trabalho apresentar de maneira mais visual os processos que envolvem integral de Riemann e foram abordados os principais teoremas e definições, tais como teorema fundamental do cálculo, integrais indefinidas e definidas, integral por partes, regra da substituição, integrais impróprias dentre outras. Foram apresentadas algumas das aplicações destes conceitos em outras áreas como na física no trabalho realizado por uma força, na economia no superávit de consumidores e produtores e na biologia na capacidade cardíaca.
