Resumo:
The objective of the article is to build pedagogical proposals that provide science teaching based on peasant lifestyles, students' experiences and the relationship with research. This is an action research that involved bibliographic research, secondary data from the reports of Time-Communities and supervised internships carried out in the Degree in Rural Education and a research action focused on the food theme, carried out by students from the 6th and 8 of the Batata School, located in the Verde para Semper Extractive Reserve, in the municipality of Porto de Moz. The interviews carried out by the students with their parents and neighbors identified that the food theme offers different perspectives to relate to agro-extractive ways of life and local culture, whether in the discussion about quality, availability and perception of food, or in the discussion of the changes that occurred in food, influenced by the socioeconomic and environmental environment, altering the food culture. The methodology adopted can be improved and readjusted to each local reality, and its applicability can be enhanced depending on the level of insertion of discussions with families and with the integration of academic planning at school.
