Objective: To make an epidemiological set up of colostomy patients in FSCMPA between 2005 January and 2010 January, identifying social and demographic features, time with colostomy, indications that lead to the use of it, the group tendency and how much cost to SUS the treatment of these patients. Methods: It was made a quantitative, observational, individual, sectional, descriptive search analyzing 43 records of colostomy patients in FSCMPA, between 2005 January and 2010 January, through the fill of search protocol, being the collected data converted into graphics and tablets using Microsoft Excel 2003 and Microsoft Word 2003 programs, and more, submitted to statistical significance tests and measures of central tendency through Biostat 5.0 program. Results: Of 43 patients, 62,8% was male, and 37.2% was female. About age, 76.7% were between 0 and 10 years, 7% were between 11 and 20, and 4.7% were between 21 and 40 years. About number of persons for in each home, 12 patients cohabit with 6 to 7 persons, 8 patients cohabit with 4 to 5 persons, 7 patients cohabit with 2 to 3 persons. About Monthly earn, 28 patients had a familiar monthly earn around 2 salaries, 5 patients with earn had between 2 and 3 salaries, 2 patients with earn between 4 and 5 salaries and one patient with earn between 3 and 4 salary. About individual earn, 19 patients had earn between 0.2 and 0.4 salary, 9 patients around 0.2 salaries and one patient earning around 0.8 salary. About time of hospitalization, 16 patients stood between 10 and 20 days at hospital, 14 patients stood until 10 days, and 7 patients stood between 20 and 30 days. About procedence, 53.5% of patients were from metropolitan region of Belém and 46.5% of them were from out of town. About indications, anorectal anomalies were responsible for 40.5% of colostomy indications; congenital megacolon was responsible for 35.7% and traumatic causes, for 11.9%. About spends, the sample cost to SUS about R$54.599,55. Conclusion: The epidemiological set up of colostomy patient in FSCMPA is characterized for predominance of male, between zero and ten years old, and anorectal anomalies as colostomy causes. Time of hospitalization was 13,5 days, 5 persons cohabit same home, familiar earn about 1 salary, individual earn of 0.2 salaries, time of colostomy longer than a year.
