Resumo:
Objective: Characterize the nutritional status of oncology patients attended in a unit of high complexity in oncology, and to describe the socioeconomic, clinical and anthropometric profile. Material and Methods: Crosssectional, retrospective, descriptive and quantitative study with secondary data collection from the chart and nutritional followup of the patients attended in 2016 at UNACON. Data collection included 127 charts, adults and the elderly, of both genders. Socioeconomic data were collected, as well as clinical data. The anthropometric data used for nutritional diagnosis were current weight, usual weight, height, arm circumference and was triceps skinfold thickness. From these measurements were calculated the percentage of weight loss in the muscular arm circumference and the muscle area of the corrected arm. Results: This study was composed of 58.3% adults and 41.7% elderly. Regarding the gender of the patients attended, 48% are female and 52% are male. In the tumor location analyzed, it was observed that 53.5% had tumor in the gastrointestinal tract, totaling a very high percentage in relation to the other locations of the tumor in the study and in all anthropometric variables analyzed, there was a higher prevalence of malnutrition. The anthropometric parameter with the highest undernutrition index of the study was triceps skinfold thickness (TSF), 80.3%. Conclusion: A high prevalence of malnutrition (nutritional risk) was observed through the evaluation of all anthropometric data.
