The current article is a product upon of a work plan entitled “BR-010 Memories”, which is
part of the Scientific Initiation Research Project (PIBIC), “Late Advancement in the Amazon
Capital: large projects, memories and representations” The project aims to analyze the popular
perception about the relationship between the State and the local population. The local
environment, nature and society affected by the process work, in the decades after 1950,
observed from residents reports around Castanhal-Pará municipality. The research had a
qualitative approach, predicted bibliographical research, observations in the empirical field
with interviews. The work contributes to the knowledge production about the regional
character, making possible the local teaching History in elementary school, by explaining
articulations between local, national and global events, from scientific initiation.
