The local environment, nature and society affected by the process work, in the decades after 1950, observed from residents reports around Castanhal-Pará municipality. The research had a qualitative approach, predicted bibliographical research, observations in the empirical field with interviews. The work contributes to the knowledge production about the regional character, making possible the local teaching History in elementary school, by explaining articulations between local, national and global events, from scientific initiation. O presente trabalho é produto do Plano de Trabalho intitulado “Memórias da BR-010”, que faz parte do Projeto de Pesquisa “Avanço Tardio do Capital na Amazônia: grandes projetos, memórias e representações”, vinculado ao Programa de Iniciação Científica (PIBIC- UFPA). O projeto tem por objetivo analisar a percepção popular acerca da relação entre Estado e população local, destacando o âmbito local, natureza e sociedade atingidos pela obra rodoviária, nas décadas posteriores à 1950, a partir dos relatos de moradores do entorno do município de Castanhal-Pará. A pesquisa possuiu abordagem qualitativa, previu pesquisa bibliográfica, observações no campo empírico, com realização de entrevistas.
