The TEA is characterized by the atypical or deficient development of communication and social interaction, with the presence of a restricted repertoire of behaviors, activities and interests. The different sources of stress resulting from the care offered to children with ASD, when not attenuated, can boost the mental health impacts of informal primary caregivers. Objective: To verify in the literature in a quantitative and qualitative way what has been approached about the mental health of informal primary caregivers of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder Methodology: this is a systematic review of the descriptive, exploratory and quantitativequalitative literature, using the descriptors: Mental Health, Autism, Caregivers and Occupational Therapy, in English and Portuguese, in the databases of the Cadernos de Occupational Therapy of the Federal University of São Carlos UFSCar and the Occupational Therapy Notebooks of the University of São Paulo USP, selecting publications between the years 2011 to 2016, in Portuguese and English, these were submitted to the instrument Scientific Accuracy Assessment ACC Elaborated by the researchers based on the PEDro Scale and the PRISMA Recommendation, in order to select researches with higher methodological quality and scientific evidences. The qualitative results were organized by categories of analysis, whose descriptors of this research were guiding. Results: Totaling 1,837 publications from the descriptors in the two databases, 43 selected by title and 11 publications selected by the abstract were evaluated by ACC and only 05 publications were methodologically suitable for this research. The importance of the discussions about the theme, as well as the results of other researches related to the theme, stand out by categories. Discussion: From this, it is emphasized, the importance of literary investments on this theme. Taking into consideration that the repercussions on mental health of the primary caregiver is this informal of children diagnosed with ASD need attention. Conclusion: Given this context, it is considered of paramount importance that the mental health theme of primary, informal caregivers of children with ASD be more widely disseminated in the literature, emphasizing that the repercussions generated by caring gain large dimensions when not treated correctly. It is also pointed out that the primary caregiver population has little information about their mental health, since when it comes to caring for a child diagnosed with ASD, attention tends to be directed towards the medical, outpatient and educational followup of the child, And the primary caregiver ends up leaving their quality of life and mental health in the background. Introdução: Há um grande número de fatores que intensificam os impactos e maximizam os níveis de estresse do cuidador primário informal, quando se trata de crianças com Transtorno do Espectro do Autismo TEA, entre eles: a severidade dos casos, a dificuldade de acesso aos serviços especiais de que necessitam e, fatores econômicos e culturais. O TEA é caracterizado pelo desenvolvimento atípico ou deficiente da comunicação e interação social, com a presença de um repertório restrito de comportamentos, atividades e interesses. As diversas fontes de estresse resultantes do cuidado oferecido às crianças com TEA, quando não amenizadas, podem impulsionar impactos na saúde mental dos cuidadores primários informais. Objetivo: verificar na literatura de maneira quantitativa e qualitativa o que vem sendo abordado sobre a saúde mental de cuidadores primários informais de crianças com o Transtorno do Espectro do Autismo – TEA. Metodologia: tratase de uma revisão sistemática da literatura de cunho descritivo, exploratório e natureza quantiqualitativa, utilizandose os descritores: Saúde Mental, Autismo, Cuidadores e Terapia Ocupacional, em inglês e português, nas bases de dados dos Cadernos de Terapia Ocupacional da Universidade Federal de São Carlos – UFSCar e na Revista de Terapia Ocupacional da Universidade de São Paulo – USP, selecionando publicações entre os anos de 2011 a 2016, em português e inglês, estas foram submetidas ao instrumento Avaliação de Confiabilidade Científica – ACC elaborado pelas pesquisadoras a partir da Escala de PEDro e da Recomendação de PRISMA, afim de selecionar pesquisas com maior qualidade metodológica e evidências científicas. Os resultados qualitativos foram organizados por categorias de análise, cujos descritores desta pesquisa foram norteadores. Assim como os resultados quantitativos, organizados em tabelas e figuras. Resultados: Totalizando 1.837 publicações a partir dos descritores nas duas bases de dados, 43 selecionadas pelo título e 11 publicações selecionadas pelo resumo foram avaliados pela ACC e apenas 05 publicações mostraramse aptas metodologicamente para esta pesquisa. Destacase por categorias a importância das discussões acerca da temática, assim como os resultados de outras pesquisas vinculadas ao tema. Discussão: A partir disto, salientase, a importância de investimentos literários acerca desta temática. Levando em consideração que as repercussões na saúde mental do cuidador primário informal de crianças diagnosticadas com TEA necessitam de atenção; assim como a disponibilização de publicações em outras línguas diferentes da nacional darão notoriedade as pesquisas científicas com esta população Conclusão: Diante desse contexto, considerase de suma importância que a temática de saúde mental de cuidadores primários, informais de crianças com TEA, seja mais divulgada na literatura, e as pesquisas sejam disponibilizadas também em línguas estrangeiras, salientando que as repercussões geradas pelo cuidar ganham grandes dimensões quando não tratadas corretamente.
