The objective is to contribute with the subject using information transfer. For such, bibliographic and ethnographic research was realized to better understand the processes of transfer, conservation and cultural memory of artisanal fishing. The results showed that the spreading of this knowledge is realized through observation and orality occurring everyday, preserving the memory and knowledge of their ancestors. The results suggest the real need in protecting those memories from threats. Finally, it is shown the possibilities that the subject provides to library science. Estudo sobre a transferência do saber tradicional entre pescadores artesanais de São João da Ponta, estado do Pará, com o objetivo geral de compreender como os pescadores artesanais adquirem e transmitem o tipo de saber tradicional que possuem domínio. Assim, procurou-se discernir como se dá a transferência informacional de gerações e os modos de preservação, as dificuldades, processo e resultados gerados desse modo de vida em São João da Ponta. Para tal, utilizou-se a pesquisa bibliográfica e etnográfica a fim de melhor compreender os processos de transferência, preservação e memória cultural sobre a pesca artesanal. Através disso, apurou-se que o transcender desse saber se realiza por observação e oralidade através do contato do dia a dia, preservando a memória e conhecimento dos seus antepassados. Os resultados sugerem a real necessidade de proteção de tais memórias das ameaças que as cercam.
