The present work presents results of a research carried out in the Campompema Community (islands of Abaetetuba-PA), which aims to investigate the importance and knowledge about the miriti fruit (Mauritia flexuosa), in addition to investigating what causes the non-ripening of the fruit , and the miriti pulp is used to feed the local population, mainly to make porridge. In this sense, methodologically, field research is used and as a data collection technique, the application of interviews with residents of the community, in addition to the contributions of authors such as: Marengo (2018) Souza (2016) and Cymerys (2015). With the information obtained, it was verified from the reports that the fruit has already been widely used in food and as a guarantee of income for the residents, however, currently, there is great difficulty in obtaining the pulp of the fruit, as it is not available. maturing properly.
