Objectives: To investigate the literature on the Kangaroo Method and its impacts on the nutritional status of preterm infants. Methods: This was a qualitative study, using the norms of a bibliographic review. The period of collection by electronic means published was from 2017 to 2022. Results: The physiological development of the premature baby may be directly associated with the prevalence of the Kangaroo Method to minimize invasive procedures for the baby. Breastfeeding during the Kangaroo Method is a positive factor for the contribution of its quality and influences its exclusivity. In addition, skin-to-skin contact makes the affective bond stronger and thus helps in the mother-baby relationship. Maternal complications are breast lesions and musculoskeletal pain. The multiprofessional team is essential for the evolution of the kangaroo method and for the knowledge of family members about the correct method. Conclusion: The kangaroo method is a positive factor for preterm development. As it is a light treatment technology, non-invasive, easy to perform and economical, it should be encouraged. Introdução: O Método Canguru (MC) é um modelo de assistência humanizada na qual se utiliza de práticas minimamente invasivas através do contato pele a pele entre o bebê e da mãe ou demais familiares. Objetivos: Averiguar a literatura a respeito do Método Canguru e seus impactos no estado nutricional do pré-termo. Métodos: Tratou-se de um estudo qualitativo, com a utilização das normas de uma revisão bibliográfica. O período de coleta pelos meios eletrônicos publicados foi no período de 2017 a 2022. Resultados: O desenvolvimento fisiológico do bebê prematuro pode estar diretamente associado à prevalência do Método Canguru para minimizar procedimentos invasivos para o bebê. A amamentação durante o Método Canguru é um fator positivo para a contribuição da sua qualidade e influencia na sua exclusividade. Ademais, o contato pele a pele torna o vínculo afetivo mais forte e assim, auxilia na relação do binômio mãe-bebê. As intercorrências maternas são lesões mamárias e dores musculoesqueléticas. A equipe multiprofissional é essencial para a evolução do método canguru e conhecimento dos familiares sobre o método correto. Conclusão: O método canguru é fator positivo para o desenvolvimento do pré-termo.
