The objective of this work is to demonstrate the nutritional profile of children aged zero to five years in
the Metropolitan Health Region I between the years 2016 to 2020. For this purpose, we used information
extracted from the database of the National Food and Nutrition Surveillance System (SISVAN - WEB).
The collection of these data was carried out from August 2021 to February 2022. The results showed high
percentages of children with nutritional deficits, such as Low Weight for Age, Short Height for Age and
Low BMI for Age, as well as a significant percentage of eutrophic and high-weight-for-age children in
the five municipalities from which the data were extracted (Belém, Ananindeua, Benevides, Marituba and
Santa Bárbara do Pará). It was possible to identify that nutritional problems caused by economic,
demographic and social factors directly impact the nutritional status of children belonging to metropolitan
health region I. The work contributes to the literature by reporting how problems related to socioeconomic,
demographic and regional conditions, impact on the development of children across the country and in
