Resumo:
As regards of electricity, Brazil has the decade from 2010 to 2020, an offer matrix with high presence of renewable sources, above 85%, in contrast to the world average of only 19%. The largest share of the electricity generated in Brazil has merits of hydroelectric projects, which account for about 70% of installed capacity in the country with over a thousand plants in operation, this decade [1]. In the current scope of this production system, the key factor for success is, among other factors, efficiency, speed and flexibility, which means cost savings. Industrial automation of a machine / process essentially consists in choosing from among the various technologies that are available to us, the ones that best fit the process to develop and the best way of the link to always ensure the best cost / benefit . Industrial automation is usually divided into; Field level, Control and Supervision [2]. Within this aspect there is a need for more efficient control programs, such as optical sensors. Without the need for mechanical contacts such a device does not suffer wear and is subject to a much smaller number of failures and is therefore preferred by designers. The automation of power plants is a major challenge not only by the size of the project, plus also the use of what is most modern in terms of automation and digital protection. Therefore, this work presents a modification in order to obtain the data presented in regard to the positioning of the water intake sluice, towards a safe operation of the opening operation thereof. For the implementation we used the optical sensor, programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and human-machine interfaces (HMI's), and a basic description and operation of such equipment, as well as hydroelectric automation concepts, as well as a descriptive analysis of logic embedded in the PLC's auxiliary services of Power Plants Power House.
