The main objective of this work is to revalue the narratives as a teaching strategy in teaching practice in the city of Abaetetuba, based on the assumptions of some theorists of great relevance for narrative research, such as Abramovich(1991), Rubens Alves(2011), Darnton(2001), Bussato (2003) among others that will be of great value for the construction of this work. Through a bibliographic survey and a small interview with three teachers from the public school network in the municipality of Abaetetuba, we will present different approaches about our object of study, in the in order to demonstrate a possible path for the use of narratives regions as an auxiliary instrument in the teaching practice of teachers of Portuguese language, with regard to the literacy process of the students of the basic education. Through this study we will also highlight the details existing in the educational scope interconnected to the effectiveness of the use of narratives of tales and legends that constitute the cultural identity Abaetetubense, thus enabling a strong conclusion and a relevant teaching proposal.
