This work analyzes the consequences of the search for the ideal body through the book Espelho Maldito, by Giselda Laporta Nicolelis. The work explores the issue through the story of Anuska, who suffers from anorexia due to extreme diets in an attempt to lose weight to be socially accepted. The objective is to investigate how the search for the ideal body is represented in the aforementioned book. The justification for this analysis lies in the growing social concern with body image, especially among young people and adolescents. The theoretical foundation is based on the authors Batista (2018), Damasceno (2006), De Freitas (2019), Feliciano (2010), Júnior (2000), Lima e Branco (2023), Nunes (2001), Prado (2018) and Soihet and Silva (2019). The methodology applied is bibliographic research and literature review. We seek to understand the cultural and psychological influences that shape young people's perceptions of their bodies and self-esteem. |
