In the face of this challenging landscape, lean construction, originating from the lean production model widespread by Japanese automakers in the 20th century, emerges as a promising strategy to alleviate persistent issues in the sector. Lean construction enables the reduction of waste, along with increased productivity and final product quality. However, the adoption of this methodology is hindered by various factors that complicate its implementation. Hence, the present research aims to identify and analyze which of these factors act as the most prominent barriers to the implementation of lean construction in the Brazilian context. Through an exploratory literature review, analyzing recent and relevant works, a predominance of barriers associated with the internal environment of companies was observed. The lack of knowledge in lean construction, the absence of support from managers, resistance to change, and failures in cooperation and communication among involved parties were identified as the primary obstacles to the adoption of lean construction in the country. These internal challenges stand out as essential elements to be understood and overcome to facilitate the dissemination and application of lean construction in the Brazilian construction scenario. A indústria da construção civil desempenha um papel fundamental no desenvolvimento socioeconômico do Brasil, contudo, confronta desafios significativos na sua busca por produtividade e eficiência. Diante desse panorama desafiador, o lean construction, oriundo do modelo de produção enxuta disseminado pelas montadoras japonesas no século XX, surge como uma estratégia promissora para mitigar os problemas persistentes no setor. A construção enxuta possibilita a redução do desperdício, assim como o aumento da produtividade e da qualidade final do produto. Entretanto, a adoção dessa metodologia encontra-se obstruída por uma série de fatores que dificultam sua implementação. Assim, a presente pesquisa visa identificar e analisar quais desses fatores atuam como as mais proeminentes barreiras para a implementação da construção enxuta no contexto brasileiro. Através de uma revisão bibliográfica exploratória, com a análise de trabalhos recentes e pertinentes, destacou-se uma predominância de barreiras associadas ao ambiente interno das empresas. A falta de conhecimento em lean construction, a ausência de apoio por parte dos gestores, a resistência a mudanças e falhas na cooperação e comunicação entre as partes envolvidas foram identificados como os principais obstáculos para a adoção da construção enxuta no país.
