Escolhemos a Análise de Discurso (AD) de linha francesa, como teoria para realizar este trabalho em virtude do objeto que queremos focalizar, a mulher, no caso, a construção da imagem da mulher operária na Zona Franca de Manaus. Sendo a AD uma teoria que trabalha os processos de construção de significados, está de acordo com o tipo de investigação que estaremos realizando. O corpus que utilizaremos são matérias que foram publicadas em dois jornais em circulação na cidade de Manaus, nos anos de 2007 a 2010, durante a semana do dia internacional da mulher.
