The role of the teacher in society is marked by the devaluation that is evident in the world of work. In Brazil, the precariousness of teaching work in public institutions of higher education is a characteristic and historical reality of this profession. Therefore, the present study aims to assess how this scenario of precariousness impacts the exercise of the teacher's work and what is the implication of this context in the mental health of university professors. This work is a literary survey that intends to contribute to the understanding of the effects of the precariousness of work and the valorization of the teacher as a relevant figure in the social, political and cultural dimensions of the country. The results found validate the precarious working conditions as a determining factor in the illness of professional by impacting the teacher’s quality of life, who depends on individual coping strategies to deal with suffering. |
