This protocol aims to outline the objectives and procedures for a systematic review in order to compare the effectiveness of these two treatment strategies in relation to pain and functional capacity of the knee with osteoarthritis, through a bibliographic survey with searches in five electronic databases. Randomized controlled clinical trials published in the last ten years, with a score of 6 on the PEDro scale, without restriction on the age or sex of the participants, and that compared TENS and LLLT with other therapeutic modalities or placebo will be included. A pilot screening will be carried out, with the selection of articles and data analysis being performed by two independent reviewers. The risk of bias will be assessed using the PEDro scale. Information will be compiled through random effects meta-analysis for corresponding results across methodological, clinical and statistical characteristics, with a narrative synthesis for each outcome being made if this is not possible. The articles selected in the pilot screening have an average score of 7.6 on the PEDro scale and provide evidence that supports the effectiveness of TENS and LLLT in knee osteoarthritis. It is expected that the results obtained in this study lead to a better direction of physical therapy clinical practice, optimizing treatment and producing better results in the management of KOA. A osteoartrite é uma condição clínica caracterizada pela deterioração da cartilagem sinovial, e atinge principalmente articulações de sustentação de peso devido ao estresse mecânico ao qual são submetidas, sendo o joelho a mais afetada. Este protocolo visa traçar os objetivos e as condutas para uma revisão sistemática com o intuito de comparar a efetividade dessas duas estratégias de tratamento em relação a dor e capacidade funcional de joelho com osteoartrite, através de levantamento bibliográfico com buscas em cinco bases de dados eletrônicas. Ensaios clínicos controlados aleatorizados publicados nos últimos dez anos, com nota 6 na escala PEDro, sem restrição quanto idade ou sexo dos participantes, e que compararam o TENS e o LLLT com outras modalidades terapêuticas ou placebo serão incluídos. Uma seleção piloto será realizada, com a seleção dos artigos e a análise dos dados sendo feita por dois revisores independentes. O risco de viés será avaliado usando a escala PEDro. As informações serão compiladas através da metanálise de efeitos randômicos para resultados correspondentes em características metodológicas, clínicas e estatísticas, com uma síntese narrativa para cada resultado sendo feita caso isso não seja possível. Os artigos selecionados na triagem piloto possuem pontuação média de 7,6 na escala PEDro e trazem evidências que suportam a eficácia do TENS e do LLLT na osteoartrite de joelho.
