Resumo:
The Course Completion Work deals with the increase in cases of violence against women, especially sexual, during the pandemic. As for the methodology, the research assumed the perspective of a qualitative approach, without excluding quantitative aspects, under the guidance of the historical-critical method. It was found that current statistics on this topic lead us to understand that this phenomenon continues to occur on a large scale, even after all social advances. Due to the culture of patriarchy, differences between men and women are perpetuated in our society, with male force and domination being tolerated, which contributes to the trivialization of violence. Data referring to domestic violence and also to sexual violence reveal that the period of social isolation, due to COVID-19, may have contributed to more cases, however, due to mobility restrictions and the reduction of mobility protection and support services for women, there has been underreporting. From the data obtained, it is concluded that it is up to the Government to promote preventive actions and to combat domestic violence, bringing to the public debate respect for human dignity and equality between the sexes. In addition, it is necessary to increase the number of professionals who work in services aimed at assisting victims of domestic violence, as well as investing in training, so that they are able to adequately meet the demands of this public.
