Introduction: Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disease characterized by hyperresponsiveness of the lower airways, with consequent airflow obstruction. Objective: To summarize the characteristics of studies that used aerobic exercises for functional capacity in asthmatic individuals. Methods: This is a narrative review carried out in studies with individuals with asthma (≥18 years), of both sexes, with aerobic exercise as an intervention and functional capacity as an outcome. The information sources considered were CINAHL, EMBASE, Google Scholar, LILACS, MEDLINE, PEDro, SciELO, SPORTDiscus, Web of Science, with searches carried out from the beginning until July 2022. Results: A total of 1174 articles were found, which after the selection process resulted in 3 studies with a combined sample of 190 participants with asthma. Conclusion: With this, studies that used aerobic exercise as an intervention report that walking and water exercises are the two ways to increase the functional capacity of these asthmatic individuals, providing these individuals with a decrease in asthma attacks and thus increasing physical conditioning. of these individuals. Studies also show that patients who continue to exercise continuously no longer have episodes of asthma attacks.
