The present study aimed to analyze the impacts of basic sanitation on health performance in municipalities in the North region of Brazil in 2016, using data from the National Sanitation Information System (SNIS), referring to the total amount of the population served with water supply. of water and solid waste collection, and data from the Firjan Index of Municipal Development (IFDM), to obtain information on the public health performance of the population of the analyzed municipalities. The analysis used was the log-log regression technique, such a model manages to capture the constant elasticity between the explanatory and dependent variables, the percentage change in Y_i given a percentage change in X_i. The results showed that increases in water supply coverage and solid waste collection positively impact health performance. In addition, it was observed that municipalities located in states of the Western Amazon performed worse in the health indicator. It is concluded that the elaboration of a strategic investment plan is necessary, aimed mainly at the regions where there are the lowest rates of population served with basic sanitation coverage, aiming at the socioeconomic development of the municipalities and the improvement of public health. Uma das grandes problemáticas no Brasil refere-se à garantia do acesso ao saneamento básico. Os baixos níveis de cobertura dos serviços de água potável, coleta de esgoto e de resíduos sólidos podem impactar negativamente a saúde da população. O presente estudo teve como objetivo analisar os impactos do saneamento básico no desempenho da saúde em municípios da região Norte do Brasil no ano de 2016, utilizando dados do Sistema Nacional de Informações sobre Saneamento (SNIS), referente à quantidade total da população atendida com abastecimento de água e coleta de resíduos sólidos, e dados do Índice de Firjan de Desenvolvimento Municipal (IFDM), para obter informações sobre o desempenho da saúde pública da população dos municípios analisados. A análise utilizada foi a técnica de regressão log-log, tal modelo consegue captar a elasticidade constante entre as variáveis explicativas e dependente, a variação percentual em Y_i dada uma variação percentual em X_i. Os resultados mostraram que aumentos na cobertura de abastecimento de água e na coleta de resíduos sólidos impactam positivamente no desempenho da saúde. Além disso, observou-se que os municípios localizados em estados da Amazônia Ocidental obtiveram pior desempenho no indicador de saúde.
