Resumo:
The general objective of the work was to verify the factors that affect the consumption decisions of the students of the Administration and Economic Sciences courses at the Federal University of Amazonas (UFAM), to understand to what extent these students make their decisions based on economic variables and not economical. As for the specific objectives, the following stand out: a) To describe the socioeconomic profile of students who enrolled in Economics and Administration courses in 2022; b) Analyze the main economic and psychological factors capable of influencing the students' consumption decision; and, c) Assess the extent to which the pandemic was able to affect decision-making regarding consumption by these individuals. Field research was carried out, with the application of a questionnaire in online format for students who entered in the first semester of 2022. It can be observed that students consider both economic aspects and psychological/emotional factors to make consumption decisions. The rationality of incoming students may be related to a set of elements, such as their own experiences, the knowledge acquired before entering the university, as well as those obtained at the beginning of their courses.
