The gaming industry plays a relevant role in the economy, not only for the generation of jobs and income it provides, but also for its potential in the development of new technologies and innovation. In Brazil, the game development area is remarkable. In various corners of the country, game developers come together to create competent titles to take a bit of local culture abroad. However, the Brazilian industry still has several problems. Currently, most of its companies are still small and new. The lack of incentives and funding, in addition to the difficulty in finding specialized professionals, are one of the main reasons for the difficulties faced by companies. An audiovisual production made by a large company is formed by several professionals specialized in different areas of knowledge. For indie producers, the solution to manpower shortages turns out to be versatility and creativity. Therefore, this project aims to make use of design and pixel art as a creative alternative in the development of graphic elements for electronic games, specifically in this work the characters of the game, which is in a pre-project state. For its execution, the project uses methods and techniques for building characters, in addition to concept art and a methodology adapted from the Design Card Game, which consists of 4 stages: Observation, Conception, Configuration and Finalization. During the development, activities such as the construction of cards, moodboards, descriptive tables, sketches and prototypes in low, medium and high fidelity were carried out. Finally, four characters were developed for the game, showing the entire process of construction and conceptualization, in addition to demonstrating the characters implemented within the game. |
