Then, the text describes the research undertaken on Amazon’s urban network, presenting the types of cities which helps to understand the complexity of the urban in Amazon, although not yet ready. The concluding part of the article discusses about cities of nature and the nature of the city as a product, environment and control of Amazon’s past and present territories by different social subjects. Para compreender o papel das cidades na Amazônia o texto parte da discussão sobre espaço e tempo das cidades como forma de retomar pontos sobre o controle do território o que pressupõe compreender o papel das cidades. Em seguida descreve as pesquisas desenvolvidas sobre rede urbana na Amazônia apresentando as tipologias de cidades que se ainda não estão prontas ajudam a entender a complexidade do urbano na Amazônia. Na parte final, retoma a discussão sobre as cidades da natureza e a natureza da cidade como produto, meio e controle dos territórios pretéritos e atuais da Amazônia, por diferentes sujeitos sociais.
