Resumo:
This study analyzes the technical feasibility of using reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP) as a stabilization element in sub-base, base, or subgrade reinforcement layers in flexible pavements. The primary motivation is the hypothesis that combining RAP with natural soil can improve the physical and mechanical properties of the soil, resulting in economic and environmental benefits. The study includes a literature review on pavement construction and the use of stabilizers, along with laboratory tests to characterize the physical and mechanical properties of the soil and RAP. The results indicate that RAP can be a viable alternative for soil stabilization, enhancing the strength and durability of pavement layers while promoting material recycling and cost reduction.
