Children's sexual education (SE) is still a topic considered taboo in Brazilian society. Despite
this, it is necessary to emphasize that SE aimed at children differs from that aimed at adults and
adolescents, its focus is teaching about the body, promoting self-esteem and preventing sexual
abuse. However, there are challenges and resistance in addressing this issue in the family and
school environment, due to the embarrassment of discussing the subject and teacher training.
Given this, the objective of this study was to discuss pedagogical proposals based on the
literature of Caroline Arcari , which take into account the ES of children in an Early Childhood
Education Center (CEI) located in Parintins–AM. Specific objectives: verify possible initiatives
and work with concepts related to SE for children in a CEI in Parintins; Identify and select
children's literature books with a SE theme as a suggestion for the pedagogical work of early
childhood education teachers; dialogue with local teachers about the development of activities
that involve pedagogical practices based on Caroline Arcari literature. The methodology involves bibliographical research, a qualitative approach and field research, including
participatory observation and semi-structured interviews with managers, educators, teachers
and mothers. The results point to the need for this approach in the CEI, considering the lack of
adequate pedagogical strategies and the alarming number of reports of sexual abuse. It is
concluded that Caroline Arcari 's works of children's literature are effective tools for
developing pedagogical proposals, providing important references for teachers' classes, thus
contributing to respectful SE. |
