To this end, interviews were conducted with 12 individuals from different organisations who held leadership, management and administrative support positions in these institutions. NGOs with at least 9 years of operation were considered. The data was analysed according to Bardin (2016) and processed using the IRAMUTEQ software (Interface de R pour les Analyses Multidimensionnelles de Textes et de Questionnaires). This procedure classified the most relevant terms in the interviewees' statements into seven categories: People, Organisational Resources, Sustainability, Meaning, Communication and Operational Continuity. The analysis highlighted the importance of human capital, with an emphasis on attracting people aligned with the NGO's values and missions. The main challenge identified was financial sustainability, aggravated by the constant need to raise funds, requiring effective strategies to ensure the survival and development of NGOs. Este artigo analisa as práticas gerenciais adotadas por gestores de organizações não governamentais (ONGs) em Manaus/AM, e identificando os principais desafios e estratégias enfrentadas no contexto de gestão dessas entidades. Para tanto, foram realizadas entrevistas com 12 indivíduos de organizações diferentes, os quais ocupavam posições de liderança, cargos de gestão e de apoio administrativo nessas instituições. Considerou-se ONGs com pelo menos 9 anos de atuação. Os dados foram submetidos a análise de conteúdo de Bardin (2016), e tratados com apoio do software IRAMUTEQ (Interface de R pour les Analyses Multidimensionnelles de Textes et de Questionnaires). Esse procedimento classificou os termos mais relevantes das falas dos entrevistados em sete categorias: Pessoas, Recursos Organizacionais, Sustentabilidade, Sentido, Comunicação e Continuidade Operacional. A análise destacou a importância do capital humano, com ênfase na atração de pessoas alinhadas aos valores e missões das ONGs.
