Stress has multiple causes and each individual reacts differently when dealing with stress. The academic environment is a source of stress, due to the excessive workload, deadlines to meet and interpersonal relationships with colleagues and teachers. Therefore, the aim of this study was to analyze the food preferences of university students for certain types of food when they report being stressed. A self-completed form was administered to 109 ISB/UFAM students, aged over 18, from all undergraduate courses, containing questions related to feeding during periods of stress. The results obtained showed that university students feel more stressed during exam periods, and that at this time, most students show a preference for sweet foods, followed by fatty and easily accessible foods, such as fast food, since these types of food can cause a feeling of satisfaction. Academic stress ends up interfering with university students' diets, as they try to improve their emotional state by eating unhealthy foods, such as hyper-palatable ones. |
