Resumo:
Motivational inclinations and professional interests are internal motivations that influence professional choices, along with life experiences. This study aimed to evaluate motivational inclinations, professional interests and relationships with life experiences when choosing a university course. The method adopted was qualitative based on a psychological assessment in the format of a multiple case study, with 4 undergraduate Psychology students. Instruments were used, namely, interview and application of the Profession Photo Test (BBT-Br) and the Holland Professional Types Assessment Scale (ATPH). The results demonstrated the importance and influence of family context and life experiences in the construction of individuals' personality and how relevant this factor is in their professional choices. The results in the Profession Photos test (BBT-Br) revealed that the radicals G (linked to imagination and creativity), Z (linked to sensitivity) and S (social sense and need to help others) were repeated in the inclinations motivational aspects of the participants, as well as the interest in helping people was predominant (Social Type) and in activities that involve research and construction of knowledge (Investigative Type) on the ATPH scale. These motivational inclinations and professional interests are congruent with the Psychology course (choice made), as the professional will have to have creativity to plan psychological interventions, based on theories and techniques, sensitivity to their performance and social sense. In this way, it was possible to understand the motivations and interests to support future career guidance for university students.
