The indexing policy is undoubtedly an important pillar in an information unit, since it has its relevance in the information retrieval process. Just as it is a path for indexers, promoting rules that must be followed by the indexer. In the study it is talked about the recovery of information in the Documentation Center of TV A Crítica, which despite the absence of a formalized indexing policy, has one based on the experiences of the manager, the demands of the Telejornalismo Writing are met. From the guiding question ''What is the importance of an indexing policy in the retrieval of information?'', the present work has as general objective to analyze the indexing policy of the Documentation Center of TV A Crítica and its relevance in the recovery of information. The study is descriptive exploratory. It is a bibliographic research with a qualitative approach. To meet the objectives outlined, the study began with the concept of an indexing policy and the exposure of its operational procedure. The obtaining of the results was conducted through the use of a data collection instrument, two questionnaires were applied in order to verify the perceptions of librarians and user satisfaction. The conclusive analysis revealed that the indexing policy adopted by the Documentation Center of TV A Crítica, although implemented informally, plays a significant role in the context of the information retrieval process.
