Resumo:
Introduction: Obstetric violence is any conduct, act or omission by a health professional, whether in public or private settings, that directly or indirectly leads to the misappropriation of women's bodily and reproductive processes, and is expressed in inhumane treatment, abuse of medicalization and pathologization of natural processes, leading to the loss of autonomy and the ability to freely decide about their body and sexuality, negatively impacting women's quality of life. Therefore, it is up to nursing students, future professionals, to be well-informed about obstetric violence, since they are future professionals. General Objective: To report nursing students' perceptions of obstetric violence: An integrative review. Methods: This study is an integrative review. The research question was developed based on the PICO strategy, used to specify the necessary requirements in the guiding question. To answer the guiding question, systematic searches were carried out in the Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online (Medline), Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences (LILACS) and Embase databases. Inclusion criteria: published between 2018 and 2023, in English and Portuguese, classified as original and indexed in the selected databases. Exclusion criteria: Editorials, conference proceedings, letters to the editor, guidelines, official manuals, reflection articles, review articles, book chapters, dissertations, theses, experience reports and articles in other languages will be excluded from this review. Results: The main results obtained through this review were that nursing generally obtains a perception of what obstetric violence is, however, this knowledge is characterized as very superficial, which prevents effective prevention and combat. Conclusion: Given the lack of knowledge among nursing students about OV, and therefore ineffective in combating this violence, a reformulation in the context of undergraduate teaching is advocated by the literature, which affirms the need for more in-depth classes on topics involving obstetric violence and that contribute to combating it as women's rights and the physiological management of childbirth.
