Introduction: Permanent Health Education (EPS) is an important political-pedagogical strategy aimed at qualifying and improving the work process. In the context of indigenous health care, the various challenges require nurses to have cultural skills and mastery of the best care practices for these peoples, making strategic actions of permanent education urgent to train these professionals. Objective: To describe the experiences of nurses who work or have worked in indigenous health care who participated in permanent education workshops held by the Stricto Sensu Graduate Program in Nursing to popularize science. Methodology: This is an exploratory, descriptive study with a qualitative approach, with nurses from the seven Special Indigenous Health Districts of Amazonas, data collection through Google forms, containing questions about the experiences lived within the scope of the permanent education workshops in an indigenous context. The type of analysis used was Bardin's content analysis (2011). Results: Of the seven Special Indigenous Health Districts (DSEI) in Amazonas, only ten coordinating nurses participated in the research, 4 from the DSEI Médio Rio Purus and 6 from the DSEI Manaus. The results obtained demonstrated significant impacts of the Continuing Education workshops in the DSEIs, especially for the qualification of nurses working in indigenous health, contributing to the acquisition of skills and abilities to work in an intercultural context and promote more humanized care. Conclusion: The experiences of the nurses interviewed demonstrated the relevance of continuing education initiatives in different cultural contexts for assistance. In this sense, the Stricto Sensu Postgraduate Program in Nursing, through permanent education workshops, emerges as an interface between academia and professional practice, promoting the improvement, qualification and updating of knowledge of nurses working in DSEIs. |
