The work analyzes the implementation of Law nº. 11.645/08, that makes mandatory the teaching of Afro-Brazilian and indigenous history and culture in Brazilian schools. Focused on two public schools in Manaus, the study investigates how these themes are addressed in Pedagogical Political Projects (PPPs) and in school practices in Early Childhood Education and the Initial Years of Elementary Education. The work uses a qualitative approach, with bibliographical and documentary research and field observations carried out during supervised internships. The results reveal a limited implementation of the law, with pedagogical practices often marked by stereotypes and superficiality. It is observed that the PPPs of the analyzed schools mention little or nothing about indigenous cultures, reflecting the absence of these themes in everyday school life. The study emphasizes the need for effective actions to ensure the implementation of the law in schools, to promote more equitable and multicultural education. It also highlights the central role of schools in forming critical consciousness and combating discrimination. |
