Physical Education is guaranteed by law 9394/96 in the 3rd paragraph of article 26 in all schools, as this subject encompasses the individual as a whole and can thus contribute to the total development of the child. Therefore, this right is also guaranteed to deaf students. The National Guidelines for Special Education in Basic Education determine that “Education systems must enroll all students, and schools are responsible for organizing themselves to serve students with special educational needs, ensuring the necessary conditions for quality education for all” (Brazil,2001, p. 44). Therefore, professional training and a good physical structure at the school are necessary so that good and dignified care can be offered to all students, as the lack of resources and untrained professionals make care inappropriate and difficult. |
