Resumo:
The general objective of this study was to analyze the eSports market from the perspective of Joseph Schumpeter's Creative Destruction, initially contextualizing the emergence of the first electronic games, the main evolutionary processes that enabled the gradual expansion of the sector, the first records of electronic game competitions, the market's relationship with other sectors, and data about global eSports economy from 2017 to 2023. This is a descriptive, bibliographical, and documentary research, which data were collected from scientific databases (Scopus) and sector reports. The research made it possible to demonstrate that the electronic sports market has presented, throughout its trajectory of growth and solidity, moments of technological innovation, adaptation in different economic cycles, stimuli in specialization, paradigm shifts, and overflows, making the application of Joseph Schumpeter's theory of creative destruction in the analysis of the eSports market and its respective growth and impact on the global economy true.
