Resumo:
This work is an analysis of the mental health of university women in the Social Work course at the Federal University of Amazonas in Parintins, based on the concept of Health established by the World Health Organization (WHO) in 2017, health “is a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being, and does not consist merely of the absence of disease or infirmity”. The objective of this research is to “Analyze the factors that lead women to mental illness at the Federal University of Amazonas ICSEZ-Parintins”. The specific objectives are: (I) To know the academic, socioeconomic, and family profile of women at the Federal University of Amazonas ICSEZ-Parintins, in order to make considerations about their mental health; (II) To identify the factors that lead to mental illness in women at the Federal University of Amazonas ICSEZ-Parintins. To conduct this study, we used a quantitative and qualitative methodology guided by Dialectical Historical Materialism, understanding that psychological distress is a social construct and therefore directly influenced by capitalism and patriarchy. The data were collected through a questionnaire on Google Forms applied to students of the social service course (ICSEZ/UFAM). The form was applied to 20 students of the Social Service course, with questions divided into 4 blocks, the profile of the students, their academic situation, socio-family situation, and issues of mental health, gender and university. Some of the data obtained are noteworthy because they demonstrate that the mental health of students at university requires urgent attention, since 90% of the interviewees stated that university is a source of great anxiety and stress. The expected results aim to broaden the academic and social debate about mental health at university.
