Resumo:
This article deals with the use of the social network WhatsApp to aid the learning of the English language in high school, carried out from the verification of the use of mobile devices within and outside the school environment, with the perspective of the content taught by the teacher, it may be of knowledge both parents and educational managers. The main objectives sought to research the relevance of using the instant messaging application as a technological tool for didactic purposes to boost activities related to the English language discipline, developing the capacity of the individual who is in training to communicate, argue , discuss, debate using new technologies, and especially encourage students to use the cell phone and its applications in order to highlight the importance of proposing didactic activities using the WhatsApp application. The study methodology was based on a literature review that reports on the centrality of the theme and application of action research. After the study it was inferred that the use of WhatsApp in the teaching of the English language only adds new knowledge in a reflexive way for students, thus fostering a range of knowledge to the cultural environment, which in most cases are denied the economically disadvantaged classes.
