The research also aimed to understand the public education policy that was implemented in the municipality, which is Structured Teaching, prepared by the Instituto Alfa e Beto (IAB), in order to understand how it has interfered in the way the Environmental Education in the Municipal Education System, because the didactic book of Sciences is one of the instruments used to realize it. The method of research and analysis was the dialectic, with a qualitative approach, using the technical procedures of bibliographical, documentary and participatory survey, with field research, where questionnaires were applied to 4th grade teachers, who teach classes in the school where case study was carried out. The result showed that the Science textbook presents contents related to Environmental Education, however, approaching it in a way that is far from what is thought by a critical and emancipatory EA, containing several "areas of silence". Este estudo se propôs analisar o livro didático de Ciências do 4º ano, utilizado na Escola Municipal de Ensino Fundamental Professora Glemíria Gonzaga Andrade, no município de Boa Vista-RR, em 2017, com o objetivo de examinar se a Educação Ambiental se apresenta em consonância com a corrente da crítica social. A pesquisa objetivou, ainda, compreender a política pública de educação que foi implantada no município, que é o Ensino Estruturado, elaborado pelo Instituto Alfa e Beto (IAB), no intuito de verificar de que maneira esta tem interferido na forma como se trabalha a EA no Sistema de Ensino Municipal, pois o livro didático de Ciências é um dos instrumentos utilizados para concretizá-la. O método de pesquisa e análise foi o dialético, com abordagem qualitativa, utilizando-se dos procedimentos técnicos de levantamento bibliográfico, documental e participativo, com pesquisa de campo, onde foram aplicados questionários para os professores de 4º ano, que ministram aulas na escola onde ocorreu o estudo de caso. O resultado mostrou que o livro didático de Ciências apresenta conteúdos relacionados à Educação Ambiental, abordando-a, no entanto, de maneira distanciada do que é pensado por uma Educação Ambiental crítica e emancipatória, contendo várias “áreas de silêncio”.
