It contains an analysis of how literature is being worked in classrooms and seen throughout ancient and contemporary society. The aim of this research is to evaluate how literature is taught, how the teacher is valorized and the importance of her training to be effective in forming effective readers. It is a qualitative and bibliographical research. We conclude that it is still necessary to fill many gaps that exist in literature teaching and that teacher training is essential for reaching positive results. A presente pesquisa mostra a importância do ensino de literatura e do letramento literário no início do século XXI. Ela possui uma proposta de análise de como a literatura vem sendo e trabalhada nos âmbitos escolares e vista pela sociedade antiga e contemporânea. O objetivo da pesquisa é avaliar como ocorre esse ensino de literatura, a valorização do professor, e a importância da sua formação para formar leitores competentes. Trata-se de uma análise qualitativa de cunho bibliográfico.
