This article aims to bring some theoretical and practical reflections on interculturality and how
it could provide a language education in order to foster more effective and inclusive teaching
and learning. We understand that teaching English goes beyond understanding the language
and its grammatical rules. Therefore, knowing cultural diversity is important to expand not only
the understanding of the world, but also the understanding of how languages are important in
our construction as social subjects. We outline the importance of using interculturality in
teaching work, bringing enriching contributions to English language teachers. We argue that
the interaction between cultures (local and global) occurs through self-awareness and the
context in which cultural and identity diversities are aligned with the subject's ability to
critically position himself. This is a qualitative bibliographic research with theoretical and
practical support that can be used as a teaching tool in English language classes. |
