We understand that teaching English goes beyond understanding the language and its grammatical rules. Therefore, knowing cultural diversity is important to expand not only the understanding of the world, but also the understanding of how languages are important in our construction as social subjects. We outline the importance of using interculturality in teaching work, bringing enriching contributions to English language teachers. We argue that the interaction between cultures (local and global) occurs through self-awareness and the context in which cultural and identity diversities are aligned with the subject's ability to critically position himself. This is a qualitative bibliographic research with theoretical and practical support that can be used as a teaching tool in English language classes. O presente artigo tem como finalidade trazer algumas reflexões teórico-práticas sobre a interculturalidade e como ela poderia propiciar uma educação linguística a fim de fomentar um ensino e aprendizagem mais efetivos e inclusivos. Entendemos que ensinar Inglês vai além da compreensão da língua e suas regras gramaticais. Sendo assim, conhecer a diversidade cultural é importante para ampliar não apenas a compreensão de mundo, mas também a compreensão de como as línguas são importantes em nossa construção em quanto sujeitos sociais. Delineamos a importância do uso da interculturalidade no trabalho docente, trazendo contribuições enriquecedoras para os professores de língua inglesa. Defendemos que a interação entre as culturas (locais e globais) ocorre pelo intermédio da autoconsciência e do contexto em que as diversidades culturais e identitárias estão alinhadas com a capacidade do sujeito posicionar-se criticamente.
