Initially notes are placed that show us the importance of Geometry for the development of humanity mainly in the initial series, and also a little of the history of Pythagoras, which for many is nothing more than legends / myths of the time. In the sequence, some demonstrations of the theorem will be described based on the thinking of great authors. The applications presented are examples used in school education and in the daily lives of people, so that they clarify the ideas based on the resolutions presented in the course of this study. With this help the students and bring concrete guidance on the Pythagorean theorem, as shown, how it applies, and that serves as a source of research. Neste trabalho de conclusão de curso é apresentado o teorema de Pitágoras e algumas aplicações com o papel de facilitar a interação no cotidiano escolar e social e evidenciar como ele transformou a sociedade dando novas características e soluções de problemas. Inicialmente são colocados apontamentos que nos mostram a importância de Geometria para o desenvolvimento da humanidade principalmente nas séries iniciais, e também um pouco da história de Pitágoras que pra muitos não passa de lendas/mitos da época. Na sequência, serão descritas algumas demonstrações do teorema baseando-se no pensamento de grandes autores. As aplicações apresentadas são exemplos utilizados no ensino escolar e no cotidiano das pessoas, de forma que deixem mais claras as ideias com base nas resoluções apresentadas no decorrer deste estudo.
