Thus, the objective of this article was to know the types and applicability of triangles in the teaching and learning of mathematics in elementary school in a school in the municipality of Acará (PA). The specific objectives were: classifying the triangles according to their sides and angular openings; identify the right triangle in terms of measurements: 3, 4 and 5; describe the Pythagorean Theorem, and its relation to the use of Tangram; and still construct the right triangle to mark an area in the shape of a quadrilateral. In the research methodology, we sought to apply the types and applicability of triangles in the teaching and learning of mathematics in elementary school in a school in the municipality of Acará (PA) in order to demonstrate the importance of triangles in mathematical knowledge. The work showed that the Pythagorean theorem related to the use of Tangran is not just a set of equations to be solved, but that it can be inserted in several situations, including civil construction (walls, rooms, etc.), soccer games (field), and other cases found in everyday life, which can help the student to better understand abstract concepts by applying them in practical and visible cases.
