Resumo:
The purpose of this article is to establish a reflection between the existing analogy about prison and prison education. Trying to elucidate the extent of the educational within the prison, which is the prison itself. With all the existing contradictions about the insertion of school education within the penitentiary system, the intention is to reflect on the real contribution of education to the man deprived of his freedom, given the punishments and multifaceted conditions that the system imposes when depersonalizing the individual. From a criminal-legal point of view, prison education is a foreseen and constitutionally acquired right, where school reeducation has the power to promote social integration and acquired knowledge, allowing inmates a perspective on the future and a new concept of freedom. In the face of so many adversities, the real problem will not be how education in prison is organized but rather what critical training will be used to permeate the educational practice.
