Resumo:
The present work brings as a theme Geology in basic education, approaching the teaching of Geology in the first year of high school in the school state Raimundo Neiva de Carvalho, in the city of Palmeiras do Tocantins – TO, bringing reflections on the importance of Geology learning, content related to this theme which are approached in the first year of high school, Besides the methodologies adopted by the teachers of the college for the teaching of said contents. The same aims to make an analysis of how these contents are worked and what are the main difficulties faced by teachers in the geology teaching, besides proposing methodologies that they try to improve the teaching and the learning of the theme. This work becomes relevant, because it seeks to discuss how much knowledge about Geology can be harnessed daily and at the same time also bring a discussion about the deficiency of geology learning in basic education. It is a work with exploratory research of qualitative nature, for this, two types of research were developed, the theoretical research through authors who discuss the main theme of this work, as well as national and state curricular references that base the Geography teaching in which the Geology teaching is inserted, and school/field surveys to data collect. The result shows that greater concern is needed and the use of new methodologies for better learning in geology teaching in schools.
