The present work arises from my professional trajectory, having my origins in a family of merchants that transited through the cities of Araguaína (TO) and Marabá (PA), both 'medium cities' in the context of the Legal Amazon. This reality leads me to build the research, where the main objective of the study is to contribute to a better understanding of this segment from the perspective and experiences of informal sellers present in the commercial center of Araguaína, seeking to understand what perception these subjects have in relation to the city and the work developed there, in addition to issues arising from the social, economic and political order of the category. All in the light of theoretical explanations about the informal sector and the precariousness of labor relations, how the dynamics of public spaces and occupations by informal sellers can help to rethink this segment and draw an approximate profile of the reality of Araguaína. Therefore, a qualitative research of the participant observation type is assumed with the application of a semi-structured questionnaire with closed and open questions and subsequent analysis of the material using Content Analysis as an instrument for analyzing the materiality of the facts. The sampling strategy ("snowball sampling") was used to access the survey respondents. The study is based on the analysis of the interviews – life and work histories of informal sellers and took as a hypothesis the dimension of the “precariousness of labor relations”. Neste trabalho sugestionamos realizar um estudo sobre as dinâmicas dos espaços públicos e ocupação destes por trabalhadores da economia informal no centro comercial de Araguaína. O presente trabalho surge a partir da minha trajetória profissional, tendo minhas origens em uma família de comerciantes que transitou pelas cidades de Araguaína (TO) e Marabá (PA), ambas, ‘cidades médias’ no contexto da Amazônia Legal. Essa realidade me leva a construir a pesquisa, onde o objetivo central do estudo é contribuir com o melhor entendimento desse segmento a partir do olhar e das vivências dos vendedores informais presentes no centro comercial de Araguaína, buscando entender qual a percepção que estes sujeitos têm em relação à cidade e ao trabalho desenvolvido, além de questões oriundas da ordem social, econômica e política da categoria. Tudo à luz das explicações teóricas sobre o setor informal e a precarização das relações trabalhistas, de que forma as dinâmicas dos espaços públicos e as ocupações pelos vendedores informais, podem ajudar a repensar esse segmento e traçar um perfil aproximado da realidade de Araguaína. Sendo assim, assume-se a pesquisa qualitativa do tipo observação participante com a aplicação de questionário semiestruturado com perguntas fechadas e abertas e posterior análise do material com uso da Análise de Conteúdo como instrumento de análise da materialidade dos fatos. A técnica da Bola de Neve foi utilizada para o acesso aos entrevistados da pesquisa.
