The supervised internship was developed at the Veterinary Hospital of the Federal
University of Paraná (UFPR), campus I - Sector of Agricultural Sciences in Curitiba, Paraná,
in the medical clinic for small animals sector in the period from 26 April to 31 May 2016
under the supervision of Professor Marlos Gonçalves Sousa, totaling 192 hours and veterinary
oncology sector under the supervision of Professor Simone Domit Guérius, period of June 01
to July 15, 2016, totaling 264 hours of activities developed. During the probationary period
they were followed up 85 cases in medical practice and 105 clinical cases and surgical in
veterinary oncology. It was allowed to trainees assist residents in clinical care, conduct
clinical history, physical examination, assist in biological material collection, request
fulfillment of tests and prescriptions. This paper aims to describe the activities developed
during the stage and report a clinical case, the medical clinic on diabetes mellitus with
diabetic ketoacidosis in dog and another case in veterinary oncology on canine mast cell
tumor in the scrotum.
