The objective of the study was to describe the experience of practicing physical activity for
elderly people in the gym of the best age. This is a descriptive study, with a qualitative
approach, of the experience report type at the Best Age Academy in Tocantinópolis, TO
carried out between September and October 2023, with two groups of students who attend
activities, twice a week, with duration of one hour. The practical experience of visits to the
group of elderly people belonging to the Best Age Academy was extremely important in my
academic training, as it provided the opportunity to learn about, identify and analyze physical
activity practices performed by this group as a protective measure for health promotion and
prevention. of diseases, in addition, through these assistance strategies promoting socialization
in activities that collaborate in preserving the autonomy and maintenance of independence of
elderly people, facilitating the psychological, physical, social integrity and inclusion of this
group, contributing to the empowerment of healthy aging. From this perspective, it is essential
for the municipality of Tocantinópolis to develop more specific and intersectoral policies that
ensure healthy aging, given that population aging is a real fact in developing countries, such
as Brazil, and elderly people become more vulnerable to physical problems mental,
environmental and social consequences resulting from the epidemiological transition. |
