The entry of indigenous people at the university is a recent and growing phenomenon. The student’s quality of life is directly related to their experience in personal and academic life associated to their lifestyle and cultural context prior to their access to the academic environment, which may interfere in the psychological, environmental, physical, educational and social spheres. It is highlighted the concern to investigate the conditions that interfere in the quality of life of the indigenous academics. Thus, the study aimed to analyze the quality of life of the indigenous students of the Universidade Federal do Oeste do Pará (Federal University of western Pará) – UFOPA. It was a field research characterized in a descriptive study with a quantitative approach where two questionnaires were applied, the first one had sociodemographic questions containing open and closed-ended questions and the second one developed by the World Health Organization (OMS) named Word Health Organizacional Quality of Life –WHOQOL – Bref. Then the data were collected and stored in Microsoft Office Excel 2016 spreadsheets. The first questionnaire was analyzed by means of descriptive statistical measures and by absolute and relative frequencies, the second questionnaire was processed by Excel in the production named Calculation scores and descriptive statistics of the WHOQOL-Bref through the same program to present the frequencies observing the percentages of the evaluation of quality of life. The lowest average score presented in the environment domain refers to the insufficient money to meet the needs of the research participants, classified as "very little". This domain requires greater attention, since it presents an average below that considered satisfactory according to the literature. Thus, it emphasizes the importance of a closer look and the need for measures to promote quality of life. |
