With the advancement of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and the development of virtual spaces, University Libraries (BU's) - as well as libraries in general - have undergone a process of resignification in the face of this new context. This means that the new possibilities of mediated information emerged through a more dynamic, interactive and connected process - since cyberspace allowed the migration of information flows to digital environments. In addition, it reports how information mediation issues can be important for the development of the Information Society, in relation to social, cultural, scientific-educational and informational aspects. Thus, among the contributions of the new technologies, the emergence of the web, computers and the Internet as tools that have propelled the information mediation process, enabling the development of a more egalitarian, informed society capable of disseminating knowledge that will reach future generations. In turn, the research is characterized as descriptive, obtaining as a guideline a unique case study, with quantitative-qualitative and experimental nature. In addition, as for the data collection and analysis procedure, the study is directed through the categorization of publications in the Facebook fanpage of the UFPA Central Library, the analytical metrics of postings and the analysis of content of the interactions and interlocutions of the users with the page . The research sample is comprised in the periods from January to June 2018, with the possibility of including isolated samples from other periods of action for discussion purposes and study results. As a result, the study describes, in a descriptive way, the publications made within the delimited period, showing which types of actions most generate interactions in the information mediation process, as well as exposing users' conversations in comments, Messenger, Checkin and evaluations. In general, some samples, such as those of categories F, Q, P and S, showed a higher index of interaction and efficiency, however, it was found that the other publications presented and the interactions observed in the interlocutions are also within acceptable range, effectiveness and consistency. Finally, it was concluded that, in addition to recognizing the importance of the use of Facebook in libraries, it is necessary that there be actions aimed at understanding the importance of knowing the efficiency parameters of these activities, such as the metrics and interlocutions observed. Thus, using such data allowed the UFPA Central Library to mediate information on Facebook in an efficient, interactive and constructive manner. O estudo aborda o uso das redes sociais como ferramentas de mediação da informação, possibilitando a interação e participação dos usuários nesse processo e evidenciando as formas pelas quais os usuários mais se engajam no Facebook da Biblioteca Central UFPA. Com o avanço das Tecnologias da Informação e Comunicação (TIC) e o desenvolvimento dos espaços virtuais, as Bibliotecas Universitárias (BU’s) – bem como as bibliotecas em geral – passaram por um processo de ressignificação diante desse novo contexto. Isso significa dizer que as novas possibilidades de mediar informações surgiram mediante um processo mais dinâmico, interativo e conectado – já que o ciberespaço permitiu a migração dos fluxos informacionais para os ambientes digitais. Além disso, relata como as questões da mediação da informação podem ser importantes para o desenvolvimento da Sociedade da Informação, perante os aspectos sociais, culturais, científico-educacionais e informacionais. Assim, dentre as contribuições das novas tecnologias, destaca-se o surgimento da web, dos computadores e da internet como ferramentas que impulsionaram o processo de mediação da informação, possibilitando o desenvolvimento de uma sociedade mais igualitária, informada e capaz de disseminar conhecimento que alcançará as futuras gerações. Por sua vez, a pesquisa caracterizase como descritiva, obtendo como fio condutor um estudo de caso único, com natureza quantiqualitativa e experimental. Além disso, quanto ao procedimento de coleta e análise de dados, o estudo se dirige através da categorização das publicações na fanpage no Facebook da Biblioteca Central UFPA, das métricas analíticas de postagens e da análise de conteúdo das interações e interlocuções dos usuários com a página. A amostra da pesquisa encontra-se compreendida diante dos períodos de janeiro a junho de 2018, com possibilidades de incluir amostras isoladas de outros períodos de atuação para fins de discussão e resultados do estudo. Como resultado, o estudo traz, descritivamente, as publicações realizadas dentro do período delimitado, evidenciando quais tipos de ações mais geram interações no processo de mediação da informação, além de expor interlocuções dos usuários nos comentários, Messenger, Checkin e nas avaliações. De forma geral, algumas amostras, tais como as das categorias F, Q, P e S, se mostraram em maior índice de interação e eficiência, porém, constatou-se que as demais publicações apresentadas e as interações observadas nas interlocuções também estão dentro de um índice aceitável de alcance, efetividade e consistência. Por fim, concluiu-se que, muito além de reconhecer a importância do uso do Facebook em bibliotecas, é necessário que existam ações direcionadas para compreender a importância de se conhecer parâmetros de eficiência dessas atividades, tais como as métricas e interlocuções observadas. Dessa forma, utilizar tais dados permitiram à Biblioteca Central da UFPA mediar informações no Facebook de forma eficiente, interativa e construtiva.
